Digital Story Project - Work in Progress

 Symmetry Digital Story
Whose Line is it Anyway? (Rough Draft)

Work in Progress

This is the rough draft for Krysta and my Digital Story on Symmetry. We still need to work on fading the music, slowing down the text, possibly some narration, and editing some of the pictures to make it a shorter story.  It has been a long process and having not used imovie before it's been a rough road.  However, once we realized that it saves automatically we weren't so intimidated that we would loose all of our work. Then we began to take risks. Thankfully we were able to import the pictures, arrange them by activity, clip the videos to show student learning, create interesting transitions, download and import music.  This being a holiday weekend and reportcards going home next week, Krysta and I are trying to be flexible and creative with our schedules in order to research how to make the changes that need to be made.  Work in Progress

  1. The video is private :(
But the good news is I, too, worked with iMovie and would be happy to help you out with any questions! Once you get the hang of it, it's stupidly easy. Intimidating at first, though, for sure..

  2. Thanks Megan. We knew that it was private, we had to wait for parents to return their permission form. Today we finally were able to get everything back and were able to select those who we would permit to view. Please know that we are aware that it needs a lot of work. We plan to work on the music, the text and the length of the video. Now that we have worked with imovie, it does seem quite simple, just needed the time to figure it out. Time...who has any?

  3. Haha! iMovie frustrated me a lot at first. In terms of manipulating how long pictures and text appear, highlight the picture, the text (above the picture), and the narration (below) one at a time and double click it, the Inspector will pop up. You can enter the number of seconds right there. You have to do the picture first -- the text/narration can't last longer than the picture.

Some of the text is hard to read (it's small and moves very quickly) but I love the scrapbook transitions. If you add narration, you can have the music in the background (in mine, I have the Harry Potter theme playing in the background and it's pretty simple to manipulate the volume of both!) I hope I was at least a little helpful! It looks awesome so far :)

  5. I love that this is not only happening in one classroom and that you are making a digital story but also collaborating and problem solving together to make the process even more of a learning opportunity!
